SAN JOSE — Technology corporations have announced plans to put off lots of more Bay Area staff, a troubling reminder that the shaky industry continues to be on the lookout for ways to chop jobs.
Intel, Maxar Space, Gigamon and AppLovin are amongst the most recent high-tech employers to reveal their intentions to scale back their respective workforces within the Bay Area, based on official filings with the state Department of Employment Development.
Here are the main points on recent staff cuts reported by tech corporations and their impact within the Bay Area:
– Intel, 47 job cuts in San Jose. The semiconductor titan announced that the workforce cuts would happen on November 15.
– Gigamon, 69 layoffs in Santa Clara. These cuts are scheduled to occur on New Year's Eve, the pc security company reported.
— Maxar Space, 61 downsizing within the South Bay. That includes 52 layoffs in Palo Alto and nine job cuts in Mountain View. The space, satellite and communications company said the workforce cuts took place on October 18.
— AppLovin, 58 job cuts in Palo Alto. The mobile technology and software company said these cuts occurred on October 15.
— Kaiser Foundation Hospitals. Despite not being a tech company, the healthcare giant has eliminated 14 tech jobs, all within the East Bay and mostly in the knowledge technology (IT) field. That included seven tech jobs in Pleasanton, six in Oakland and one in Walnut Creek.
Outside the Bay Area, Intel reported plans to chop 272 jobs within the Sacramento County city of Folsom. These reductions are scheduled to happen on November fifteenth.
In 2022, 2023 and 2024 — the period when tech corporations began ramping up their job cuts within the Bay Area — the tech industry eliminated well over 47,800 jobs, based on a compilation of lots of of WARN notices by this news organization. which is out there on the state EDD.
Worryingly, quite a few tech corporations have initiated multiple rounds of layoffs as austerity measures proceed across the industry. Intel, Maxar Space and AppLovin had all announced no less than one previous round of staff cuts. Intel has announced several rounds of workforce cuts.

— Broadcom, 1267 job cuts in Palo Alto.
– Salesforce, 1,202 headcount reductions in San Francisco.
– Intel, 1,165 layoffs in Santa Clara and San Jose
– Twitter, 900 job cuts in San Jose and San Francisco
— PayPal, 772 staff cuts in San Jose
– LinkedIn, 711 layoffs in Sunnyvale, Mountain View and San Francisco
