Six Flags will spend $1 billion on 11 roller coasters over the subsequent two years – The Mercury News

Six Flags is embarking on a multi-billion dollar spending spree so as to add latest roller coasters, rides and water slides to its theme parks across North America. This doesn't even include the $1 billion investment for a brand new Six Flags park in Saudi Arabia.

Six Flags plans to spend $1 billion over the subsequent two years on latest rides, children's playgrounds, seasonal events and other amenities at its 42 amusement parks and water parks in North America.

New attractions coming to Six Flags parks in 2025 and 2026 include 11 roller coasters, in addition to water rides, themed areas and water park upgrades.

Six Flags and Cedar Fair merged in an $8 billion deal over the summer, making a combined portfolio of 27 amusement parks and 15 water parks within the United States, Canada and Mexico that attract 48 million visitors annually.

The Six Flags 2025 offering includes seven roller coasters – at Six Flags Great America (Wrath of Rakshasa) in Illinois, at Wonderland (AlpenFury) in Canada, at Six Flags New England (Quantum Accelerator) in Massachusetts, at Kings Dominion (Rapterra) in Virginia and at Carowinds (Snoopy's Racing Railway), Six Flags Over Georgia (Georgia Surfer) and New Jersey's Six Flags Great Adventure (Flash: Vertical Velocity).

Three additional parks – Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, Kings Island in Ohio and Six Flags Over Texas – will likely be upgraded as water parks in 2025.

Six Flags has no plans to shut theme parks

Great Adventure gets a launch coaster and Over Texas gets a dive coaster – each record breakers. Magic Mountain's latest roller coaster will likely be the primary voyage of its kind in North America. Six Flags Mexico is getting a boomerang roller coaster with thrills for the entire family.

The remainder of the brand new 2026 attraction lineup includes water rides at Carowinds and Canada's Wonderland, a family motion ride at Kings Island, a children's themed area at Six Flags Great America and water park upgrades at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park.

None of those figures include the eight roller coasters coming to Saudi Arabia's latest $1 billion Six Flags Qiddiya City in 2025 — including Falcon's Flight, which is the fastest (155 mph) and tallest (640 feet) roller coaster on the planet.
