MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Chris Paddack pitched six scoreless innings to steer the Minnesota Twins to their eleventh straight win, a 5-2 decision over the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.
The Twins' winning streaks in 2003 and 2006 tied them to the third-longest all-time, falling wanting the club record of 15 straight wins during their last World Series championship season in 1991. They also won twelve in a row in 1980.
Minnesota (18-13) has the longest winning streak in the key leagues this yr. Last season there have been only 4 with greater than 10 games, led by Tampa Bay with 13 straight games.
Edouard Julien hit a two-out RBI single to present Paddack the lead (3-1) within the third, and the lanky, long-haired right-hander deftly grabbed the lead from there. He allowed two hits, struck out six and walked one while throwing 83 pitches.
Red Sox starter Tanner Houck (3-3) went six innings for the sixth time in seven rounds this season, but was retired by three batters within the seventh because the Twins opened the sport with a four-run inning.
Julien drew a bases-loaded walk on an automatic ball due to a pitch clock violation by Naoyuki Uwasawa before Ryan Jeffers delivered a two-run double.
The Red Sox were on the verge of one among those big innings when Jarren Duran opened the sport on an error by shortstop Carlos Correa and Rafael Devers followed with a double. But Paddack struck out Tyler O'Neill, got Wilyer Abreu to leap to Correa and sent Garrett Cooper to second base with a soft grounder.
Devers hit a two-run double off Caleb Thielbar within the eighth to chop the lead to 3, but Thielbar recovered and struck out O'Neill. Jhoan Duran got an ideal second save within the ninth inning.
Boston (18-15) struck out 13 times.
The Twins happily returned home from six road games, giving them an unbeaten run of greater than six games for the primary time in franchise history, with their comfortable summer sausage and a lineup stuffed with hot hitters.
Castro, who scored on Julien's single within the third, is 3 for five in his profession with a double and a house run against the right-hander Houck.
The multi-position backup, who prolonged his hitting streak to a career-best nine games, went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a sacrifice bunt. He is predicted to play recurrently in midfield while Byron Buxton is on the injured list with knee inflammation.
