In a brand new interview with British Vogue, Sophie Turner says the vicious “mother-shaming” she endured by the hands of the media last yr, right after her shocking split from Joe Jonas, were “the worst days” of her life.

He quoted people who said he had been busy caring for their young daughters “pretty much all the time” over the past few months. At the time, Turner was in the UK working on the streaming series Joan while Jonas was on tour with his brothers in America.
People wondered whether Jonas and his people wanted to lay the groundwork for an argument that he should become the girls' primary caretaker, anticipating that the divorce could lead to a high-stakes transatlantic custody battle.
In fact, there was initially a heated legal dispute. Turner filed a lawsuit against Jonas in federal court in New York, demanding that his daughters be returned to England. Their lawyers also claimed he refused to hand over the children's passports.
While there are elements to the breakdown of the marriage that Turner couldn't discuss for legal reasons, she said, “There were some days where I didn't know if I used to be going to make it. I’d call my lawyer and say, 'I can't try this.'” I just can't.'”
“And then, finally, after two weeks of being in trouble, (the lawyer) reminded me that it was my children that I was fighting for,” Turner continued. “As soon as someone says to me, 'Do it for your children,' I do it. I wouldn’t do it for myself, but I will find the strength for her.”
Jonas' team quickly responded to Turner's lawsuit, releasing a press release underscoring his desire to co-parent and adding, “This is an unfortunate legal disagreement over a marriage that is sadly coming to an end.”
While Turner was coping with the custody case, she struck up a brand new friendship with Taylor Swift, who briefly dated Jonas when she was 18. The world's biggest pop star gave Turner a spot to remain when she needed to be in New York for the custody case.
“Taylor has been an absolute hero for me this year,” Turner said. “I have never been more grateful to anyone than to her because she took my children and I in and gave us a home and a safe place. She truly has a heart of gold.”
In January, Turner's lawsuit was dismissed and the ex-spouses agreed to a custody agreement.
Since then, Turner said, she and Jonas tried to be cordial while working on take care of their daughters as divorced parents. “I’m confident we can do it,” Turner said. “Joe is a great father to our children and that’s all I could ask for.”
