PARIS — It's not unusual for well-known technology CEOs to be mobbed at industry conferences all over the world by fans or start-up founders trying to connect.
But it wasn't the massive names that were being surrounded. Rather, it was the founders of a few of the hottest and newest AI startups on the earth who were attracting all the eye – and attempting to fend it off.
VivaTech, one in every of Europe’s largest tech shows, was pleased to welcome Arthur Mensch, co-founder and CEO of Mistral AI, and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.
Mistral AI is a French startup that has been in business for just over a 12 months and has raised tons of of thousands and thousands of dollars. MicrosoftThe company is valued at $2 billion, but several recent Reports suggest that the corporate is looking for additional funding at a $6 billion valuation. The astronomical rise of Mistral AI, which develops AI models just like OpenAI, has put its CEO Mensch within the highlight.
After ending his panel on the official VivaTech stage in front of an audience on Wednesday, he was quickly ushered out of the speaker waiting room into a gathering room round the corner. The speaker room is situated in an exclusive and restricted a part of the VivaTech event, the Viva Lounge.
After his meeting concluded, Mensch was in a short time escorted out of the venue by his two colleagues, who ran out the back exit. It seemed as if Mensch's colleagues didn’t want him to be hassled by the press or other startup representatives. One person managed to briefly reach Mensch with a handshake.
Amodei from Anthropic also attracted plenty of attention. As soon as his VivaTech session on stage ended on Wednesday, he left the Viva Lounge and was greeted by a crowd of individuals and various cameras – almost certainly the media.
Amazon has invested around $4 billion in Anthropic, an organization founded only in 2021.
Both Mistral AI and Anthropic are emblematic of how AI firms are being thrust into the highlight seemingly overnight due to massive investments from well-known industry giants and the hype surrounding the technology.
For example, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has turn into a rather more well-known figure as his company grows at a panoramic pace and its stock price continues to rise rapidly.
