ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Jose Siri made a terrific catch early within the ninth inning and singled within the second half to attain the game-winning run within the Tampa Bay Rays' 4-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday night.
Amed Rosario hit a double against Michael Kelly (2-2) within the ninth inning, reached third base on Alex Jackson's sacrifice bunt and scored on Siri's hit.
Pete Fairbanks (1-2) survived the ninth inning after allowing a leadoff double to Miguel Andújar. He retired the subsequent three batters with balls that every one reached 102.3 mph or more, including Zack Gelof's 107.7 mph faster drive to center that Siri caught with a leaping catch.
The Athletics (23-34) won the primary game of the series, making Thursday's day game the deciding game of the series.
Andújar hit a sacrifice fly within the fourth inning and gave the Athletics a 2-1 lead with an RBI infield single within the sixth inning. He hit a three-run homer in Oakland's 3-0 victory over the Rays on Tuesday night.
Max Schuemann was on second base when JJ Bleday hit a single to left within the eighth inning. After receiving the signal to try and rating, he stopped and returned to 3rd base as left fielder Randy Arozarena threw to the plate. When Jackson threw to second to take Bleday out of the sport, Schuemann charged to the plate and scored, tying Oakland at 3-3.
Isaac Paredes had an RBI double within the seventh inning to offer Tampa Bay a 3-2 lead.
Tampa Bay tied the sport at 2-2 with a run-scoring single by pinch-hitter Jonathan Aranda within the sixth inning. The inning ended when Arozarena was thrown out by Scott Alexander on a direct try and steal the house run while Jackson, who’s currently hitting 0-for-25, was at bat.
The Rays tied the sport 1-1 within the fourth inning with Brandon Lowe's RBI triple against Joey Estes.
Estes, in his fourth start this season and sixth overall, allowed one run and two hits in five innings. Rays starter Ryan Pepiot allowed two runs, three hits and struck out seven players in 5 2/3 innings.
The game was halted for about 10 minutes when umpire Brian O'Nora left the sector and an out was called within the fifth inning. O'Nora seemed to be affected by cold symptoms early on and was hit within the mask by a foul ball within the fourth inning.
Second base umpire Derek Thomas replaced O'Nora on the plate.

Athletics: 1B JD Davis, who left the sector Tuesday night with a bruised hand after being hit by a pitch, didn’t play but didn’t go on the injured list.
Rays: INF prospect Junior Caminero (quadriceps strain) was placed on the injured list from Triple-A Durham and is predicted to miss 4 to 6 weeks.

A's LHP Kyle Muller (0-1, 3.48 ERA) is scheduled to make his first start of the season on Thursday after 13 relief appearances. Rays LHP Tyler Alexander (2-3, 6.06 ERA) is scheduled to begin or replace an opener.
