California's largest forest fire thus far this 12 months

FOREST RANCH, Calif. (AP) — Thousands of firefighters battling a Northern California wildfire are getting some help from the weather just hours after the blaze broke out, ravaging an area larger than Los Angeles. Officials said Saturday that lower temperatures and better humidity could help slow the Park Fire, the most important blaze in California thus far this 12 months. The blaze's intensity and dramatic spread prompted fire officials to attract unwelcome comparisons to the monstrous Paradise fire in 2018, which killed 85 people and torched 11,000 homes. Paradise was again near the danger zone. The entire town was under an evacuation warning Saturday, certainly one of several Butte County communities hit by such a warning.
