When the brand new roller coaster debuts at Valencia Amusement Park in 2026, a brand new, unique ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain will take adventure seekers on an off-road motorcycle ride over rugged hilly terrain.
Magic Mountain announced plans in November to expand its collection of 20 roller coasters with a brand new, first-of-its-kind coaster ride in North America in 2026. This is a component of Six Flags' plan to spend $1 billion on latest rides over the subsequent two years.
The latest permit allows grading to start so Magic Mountain can construct retaining partitions, a station and a mechanical constructing for a brand new roller coaster.
In the development plans for Project 90011, the brand new ride is variously described as a “Six Flags Vekoma Coaster” or a “Six Flags Thrill Glider Roller Coaster.”
“These labels indicate that the new coaster will be a Vekoma Thrill Glider, a new model from the Dutch manufacturer that was first rumored to be a type of floating motorcycle coaster a few years ago,” it says Theme Park Insider.
Six Flags will spend $1 billion on 11 roller coasters over the subsequent two years
The Vekoma Thrill Glider could be built on 3.4 acres of the previous Showcase Theater site between the Full Throttle and Superman: Escape from Krypton roller coasters.
Since 2004, Vekoma has built straddle-style motorcycle coasters within the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and China – but never in North America.
Vekoma has manufactured several suspended roller coaster models – but has not yet produced a floating motorcycle roller coaster.
Magic Mountain features the 1988 Ninja roller coaster, but an off-road motocoaster that travels over hilly terrain would definitely add a contemporary twist to the ride concept.
Six Flags will release more details concerning the latest Magic Mountain coaster in summer 2025.
